When we visited Adderley Residential home it was in administration and was being managed by Healthcare Management Solutions, a management company appointed by the administrators. On the day we visited Adderley Residential home there were 34 people living there. Some people had bedrooms in the main house and some lived in attached flats. The flats had their own kitchen and bathroom and some were single occupancy while others had two bedrooms so people could share. We spoke with five people who live at Adderley Residential, two of their relatives and two members of staff.People told us they liked living at the home; one person said, 'It's a jolly good home,' while another told us, 'I couldn't wish for anything better.' People we spoke with told us the staff looked after them well and one relative said, 'I can't fault how they look after her, the staff are nice.'
People told us living at the home enabled them to be independent. One person told us, 'I like to be independent while I can, I know if I can manage it and while I can I will.' This person also told us that living there allowed them to maintain their privacy and said, 'This is my home, if I go out, I lock the door. I have a key.'
Although people were happy with the care they received, we found the home was not as clean or well maintained as it should be and there was an unpleasant smell in some of the bedrooms.
