During a routine inspection
During our visit we spoke with a number of residents who all told us that they were happy with how the staff treated them. One resident told us, 'The staff are very friendly and we can have a laugh with them.' Residents and relatives told us that the quality of the food was very good. One resident told us, 'The food is excellent; we have a good variety of food on the menu.'
All of the residents that we spoke with told us that they were well cared for and protected by staff. One resident told us, 'I feel safe here if I need to I can confide in the staff.' All of the relatives that we spoke with told us that they felt that their relative was safe and well cared for by the staff. One resident told us that staff are protective and supportive, but they had not been told how to raise a safeguarding concern nor had they been provided with written information to advise them how to make a complaint.
All of the residents and relatives that we spoke with told us that staff were committed to providing a good quality service to residents and were competent in their job role. One resident told us, 'Staff seem to know what they are doing,' and a relative told us, 'Staff are well equipped and trained to do the job. Both residents and relatives that we met felt that there was sufficient staff to meet the needs of residents. One relative told us, 'There always seems to be enough staff to look after the residents.'
One resident told us, 'Staff always ask for our views.' At the time of the inspection there were no resident meetings in place. Relatives had recently been invited to a meeting to inform them of plans to move to the new provider.
