During a routine inspection
As part of our inspection, we spoke with the parents of four young people that used the service. We also spoke with an orthodontist, practice manager, receptionist and two dental nurses about working at the practice.
All of the parents of the young people who used the practice told us that they were happy with the quality of treatment received and were involved in all aspects of treatment. One parent told us: 'I have no complaints; they (staff) are all really good". Another parent said: 'They always explain to us about the braces and the care needed".
People received care and treatment that was planned to meet their needs. All consultations were recorded and any change in people's health needs taken into account when planning any treatment. One person we spoke with told us that the practice were good at making their children comfortable with coming to see the orthodontist.
The provider had procedures in place to provide a safe environment of care. There were effective staff checks in place that ensured staff were suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults. There were clear procedures to ensure that the practice was kept clean and that all dental instruments used were thoroughly cleaned and sterilised between each use.
