During a routine inspection
People we spoke with told us what happened before treatment was carried out. One person said: 'The dentist tells me what needs to be done, and what she's going to do. I can say if I want to choose any option.' We saw referrals made when specialist work was required. This showed the service assessed people's needs before carrying out treatment.
People told us about what they would do if they had any concerns about the way they were treated. One person told us: 'I would speak to the dentist.' A staff member told us: 'If I saw suspicious bruising I will report it to the practice manager.' This showed staff understood the signs of abuse and could raise it with the right person when those signs were noticed.
One staff member told us: 'I had good training on policies and procedures.' We saw appropriate induction had taken place. This showed staff members were made aware of the service's policies and procedures.
We viewed the patient satisfaction survey analysis dated 1 April 2013 to 30 April 2013. We saw feedback from people. One person said: 'It was easy to join.' This showed the service sought the views of people and those acting on their behalf.
