During a routine inspection
We found that the practice had taken steps to ensure that patients and staff were protected from the risk of infection, including cleaning of instruments and the environment. Dental staff wore protective clothing and spoke about the measures necessary to ensure good hygiene. We saw evidence of extensive audit of infection control procedures.
Staff had received training around safeguarding children and adults. They knew the signs that someone could be the victim of abuse. They told us that they would not hesitate to take immediate action.
We reviewed some clinical notes and found that decisions to provide treatment were accompanied by clear audit trails. Where complex treatment had been provided, written consent had been obtained from the patient. Medical history information was maintained and updated. Guidelines were followed around the safe use of radiation equipment.
