During a routine inspection
We spoke with four people who used the service. People said that they were very happy and that they saw the dentist on a regular basis. They told us the care they received was excellent. They confirmed the dentist always explained what they were doing, what they had found during the examination and what the treatment options were.
People told us that they found the staff to be approachable and that they felt able to ask the dentist questions or make comments about their treatment. One person told us, 'I have been coming here for twenty plus years, they are so nice and its handy getting here.' Another person told us, 'All of the staff are very good, they explain things to me and they are always pleasant.'
People told us that the practice was flexible and if they needed to see the dentist in an emergency they would always fit them in. The staff we spoke with told us that each day they have protected emergency slots available for people. On the day of the inspection we found this to be the case, we spoke to one person who had contacted the surgery that day to see a dentist and had been given an appointment.
We found that people had their privacy and dignity respected.
We found that people were protected from the risk of infection as care was delivered in a clean and hygienic environment.
We found appropriate recruitment practices to be in place and the practice had an effective system for dealing with complaints.
