During a routine inspection
We saw that detailed records of treatments were maintained. A medical history was taken at the first appointment and updated at each appointment thereafter.
The practice had a dedicated decontamination room and we were shown the process for decontamination of instruments. We saw tests and checks on the autoclave and instrument washer were carried out on a daily basis.
Staff we spoke with were aware of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and were able to describe the actions they would take if they suspected abuse. We looked at staff training files and saw that training in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults had been provided. We saw the continuing professional development (CPD) files for both dentists that showed knowledge and skills were regularly updated.
