When we visited in November 2012 we identified issues with obtaining medication and storing it securely.

The provider sent us evidence to show people were protected against the risks associated with medicines. There were appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines.

During a routine inspection

Holbeach Dental Surgery is located in Holbeach in Lincolnshire. It currently has two dentists and two hygienists. The patients are a mixture of NHS and private, although the surgery is no longer accepting adult patients on the NHS.

We spoke with two members of staff, one dentist and two patients who were visiting the service at the time of our visit.

Patients told us the dentists discussed their treatment options and allowed them to take time to come to a decision. One patient told us, 'He explains it really well; I wouldn't come if he didn't.'

Patients told us the dentists and dental nurses wore protective equipment, for example gloves and aprons, to reduce the risk of infection.
