During a routine inspection
All of the dental practitioners were registered with the General Dental Council.
We found that people were involved in their treatment planning because they were made aware of their treatment options and the advantages or disadvantages of each before treatment was begun. One person told us, 'It's very good. I am fully informed about treatment."
Dental records showed the treatment people had received and when a follow up visit was required to maintain their oral health. The practice had an out of hours service which provided emergency care and treatment for people if needed. People we spoke with were happy with their care and treatment. One person told us, 'It's a very efficient service."
We found that the decontamination process of instruments used for dental treatment was in line with guidance and this reduced the risk of cross infection.
A policy was in place in respect of staff recruitment and selection that would ensure the suitability of new staff to provide care and treatment for people.
We found that there was an effective complaints policy in place and the provider acted appropriately when complaints were received.
