During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 9 October 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Leighton House Dental Practice is in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the reception of the practice which is on the ground floor. Access to the treatment rooms on the first floor was via stairs or a lift. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice has 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse, 1 dental hygienist, 1 receptionist and the practice manager.

25 July 2013

During a routine inspection

Leighton House Dental Practice is on the second floor of a building.. There is lift access to all floors. When we inspected this service on 25 July, we found the practice clean and well equipped. There were three surgeries, a reception area, a locked staff room and a decontamination room.

We observed that the staff were welcoming to people attending the surgery. People said that they were happy with the service provided, that it was 'good overall' and that they 'felt safe' while being seen by the Dentist. They also told us that they were kept informed throughout the course of their treatment. One person said, 'I am very satisfied and they keep me informed of how I am doing during the course of treatment'.

The practice carries out a wide range of NHS and private treatments to a large patient base including some cosmetic dental procedures.

On the day of our inspection there were two full time dentists, a part time Hygienist and six nurses working at the practice.
