During a routine inspection
Both people said the clinical environment was clean.
The people we spoke with said they had been given appropriate information and support regarding their care and treatment. We were told they had received verbal and written information which had been tailored specifically to their needs. For example: one person said he had been given advice on how to brush his teeth and care for his gums.
We were told the dentist identified and discussed treatment options; before treatment commencing verbal consent had been obtained. Both people said they had been involved in and had agreed their treatment plans. One person said she had been given her treatment plan to take away. She said the treatment plan had included information about the costs of suggested treatments.
People said they were always asked about their health at each visit; had there been any change to their health status or prescribed medication. One person said 'the dentist has discussed my mouth condition with me and has given me advice.'
One person said 'I feel safe receiving treatment at the surgery and have been very happy with the care and treatment provided'. She told us 'that should i have a concern i would approach the receptionist and ask for the information leaflet relating to complaints'.
One person said he had been able to express his views through completion of an occasional patient survey.
