During a routine inspection
The practice had effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Staff were able to explain the procedures in place for the decontamination of equipment. The practice used single use equipment whenever possible. They followed guidance contained in the latest Department of Health publication for dental practices on decontamination.
Staff training records showed that everyone working at the practice had taken part in basic life support. This training was organised on a regular basis by the provider and included role play and practise of simulated medical emergencies.
The practice had carried out an analysis of their practice. Their computer system had provided reports relating to their practice. These were used to identify any areas for improvement within the practice and were also discussed in staff appraisals.
Patients we spoke with were all complimentary about the practice and said: "It appears to be a well run practice" and "I feel involved in my treatment".
