During a routine inspection

We found that G4S were compliant with the outcomes we inspected. We were not able to speak with people who used the service on this occasion. This was because the service only had short term and temporary contact with people. We saw that the provider had sought feedback from people who had used its service and also that they met regularly with the NHS trust to discuss the quality of the service and to address any issues or concerns. There were appropriate systems in place to ensure the safety and welfare of people who used the service. This included gathering information and assessing patients before they were transported. Vehicles and equipment were regularly serviced and checked to ensure that they were safe and there were measures in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.

We also found that staff were appropriately vetted to ensure that they were suitable to work with vulnerable people and that they had received the training needed to carry out their patient transport duties. There were checks in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service. We saw that the provider used lessons learnt throughout the organisation to improve the service that people received and to make it as safe as possible.
