During a routine inspection
There were procedures in place to ensure consent was obtained from people. We saw records to show that consent was obtained appropriately. If people changed their mind about consent this was documented. People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. People had individual treatment plans and we saw they were involved in treatment planning. All staff received basic life support training and there was equipment available to deal with medical emergencies.
Staff had received infection control training in August 2013. There was a system in place for the cleaning and sterilization of reusable instruments which was in line with published guidance. Appropriate protective equipment was available to staff and people who use the service.
All staff were registered with their relevant professional bodies and there were development opportunities to ensure they were trained and supported to treat people who use the service.
There was a complaints policy and people were made aware of how to make a complaint when they first joined the service. The policy outlined how complaints were investigated and responded to. No complaints had been made in the past 12 months.
