During a routine inspection
People's plans of care which we reviewed evidenced to us that every time people visited the dental practice their dental health and general well being was checked to make sure that before any treatment commenced that the person was well enough to have the dental treatment. We checked the dental practice's emergency drugs and oxygen and found that they were checked regularly.
During our inspection we toured the premises and found that the practice followed Department of Health (DH) guidance for infection control. All of the staff were able to demonstrate immunity against the Hepatitis B virus. People were protected from the risk of being infected by this virus.
Staff were supported through a comprehensive and regular supervision and annual appraisal process. Records we reviewed showed us that staff supervisions and appraisals had occurred. People were assured that they would only be treated by competent staff.
The dental practice used customer satisfaction surveys to gauge people's satisfaction as to the quality of service provided. The surveys were also available in alternative formats and people were supported to complete surveys if they wanted help or assistance to do this.
