During a routine inspection
Patients' care and treatment plans were person centred. Records we reviewed showed us that patients' records were kept up-to-date with their latest health and dental health conditions. Patients were only treated where this was safe to do so.
We spoke with staff who knew what the different types of abuse were and who and how to report abuse if this was required. Records we viewed showed us that staff had completed training in the safeguarding vulnerable adults (SOVA) and children and that refresher training had been planned for staff who required this.
From the records we reviewed, we saw that Yaxley Dental Clinic only employed staff after appropriate identity, previous employment and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks had been satisfactorily completed.
Patients we spoke with told us they would report any complaints that they had to the manager. Information displayed in the reception and waiting areas provided patients with information on how to complain and how to escalate a complaint to the appropriate authorities. The same patients also told us that they had never had cause to complain.
