Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. People told us they were very happy with their care and treatment. One person said 'If I don't need treatment he (the dentist) doesn't do it. I have confidence he gives you the treatment you need.' However, adequate arrangements were not in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. The oxygen cylinder was out of date and there were inadequate procedures and staff training for conscious sedation treatment.
People who use the service were not protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had not taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.
There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. People we spoke with said they felt the practice and staff were 'always very clean.'
People were able to make comments/complaints and there was an effective complaints system available.
