All Inspections

25 April 2017

During a routine inspection

We carried out this announced inspection on 25 April 2017 under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. We planned the inspection to check whether the registered provider was meeting the legal requirements in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and associated regulations. The inspection was led by a CQC inspector who was supported by a specialist dental adviser.

To get to the heart of patients’ experiences of care and treatment, we always ask the following five questions:

• Is it safe?

• Is it effective?

• Is it caring?

• Is it responsive to people’s needs?

• Is it well-led?

These questions form the framework for the areas we look at during the inspection.

Our findings were:

Are services safe?

We found that this practice was providing safe care in accordance with the relevant regulations.

8 March 2013

During a routine inspection

We visited Burnawn House Dental Practice on 08 March 2013. We spoke with all the staff and Mr Chan the dentist.

We gathered evidence of people's experiences by talking to patients at the practice. The people we spoke with said they were happy with the service they received.

One person told us, 'I am perfectly happy with the service, it is a pleasant and welcoming place.'

They told us that the dentist discussed the options available to them for any treatment they might require.

We were told that staff were caring and were supportive when considering people's needs. A person we spoke to told us, 'The staff know their jobs and are professional and approachable.'

People we spoke with told us they had not needed to raise any concerns. However, they would speak to the staff if they were unhappy with anything and were confident the provider would resolve any problems. We saw there were leaflets available in the reception area which gave people information on how to make a complaint.

There was a range of appropriate information available to people attending the practice about the services provided, oral health and the costs of treatment.
