During a routine inspection
People received care that ensured their safety and welfare in a clean and hygienic environment. They were always examined and treated by a dental surgeon and/ or hygienist and were required to complete a medical history form. Staff had been trained to deal with medical emergencies and there was emergency medication and oxygen available. People were cared for by staff who had been recruited appropriately.
There were appropriate systems in place for the decontamination of reusable instruments and all staff had received infection control training. There was an infection control policy and relevant guidance for staff, but there had been a lack of audits in relation to infection control. Audits of medical records were completed every six months and feedback from people was monitored by the practice manager.
