During a routine inspection
A full dental and oral examination was completed and recorded for new patients and their medical and health history was taken and subsequently updated. The patients we spoke with confirmed that the dentist checked each time whether there had been any health or medication changes.
People felt safe when they sought treatment from the practice and systems were in place to safeguard them and for identifying and reporting any concerns.
Infection control practice was not fully compliant with published 'essential quality requirements'. We have asked the manager to tell us how they plan to address the shortfalls.
Staff had attended the required continuous professional development and training, with the exception of training on safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection. Not all staff had received this.
There were systems in place to monitor the on-going operation of the practice, although some improvements were necessary. The practice had not been proactive in seeking patient feedback.
