During a routine inspection
Three of the patients told us that the treatment was explained carefully to them and that they were given good advice on how to care for their teeth and gums, however, two said that this was not the case. One patient said she was very unhappy with a denture treatment she had at the practice. She felt that some teeth were unnecessarily removed by the dentist prior to making the denture and when it was fitted she could not wear it, when she complained she did not feel her complaint was handled well. However, she was seeing a different dentist and being given a free replacement denture and felt more confident. We saw her leave after having her treatment completed she appeared to be very happy with it.
We saw that patient's needs were assessed and care and treatment delivered in way that was intended to ensure their safety and welfare. Patients were protected from cross infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.
