Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 19 June 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks and recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and they were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. The Thatched House Dental Practice is in Leytonstone, in the London borough of Waltham Forest and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 1 principal dentist, 1 associate dentist, 2 dental nurses, 2 trainee dental nurses, and 1 receptionist. The practice had 4 treatment rooms, but only 3 were in use. During the assessment we spoke with the principal and associate dentists, 3 dental nurses, and 1 receptionist.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our onsite assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 16 patients. On the day of our assessment, we spoke with and saw patient feedback from a further 4 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, ‘Highly recommend this service for anyone seeking a good dental professional, who cares to provide an outstanding level of care’ and ‘Treatment feels top level and very professional. They are organised and efficient and take pride in their work. Clean premises and friendly, helpful staff.’ Another patient told us, ‘Thatched House is an excellent dental practice, I've been coming here for 5 years since I moved into the area, and have never had such conscientious and detailed dental care.’ The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients through the use of a suggestion box, and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
