During a routine inspection
Records included details of a person's medical history, of the examination by the dentist, the outcome, and where required, recommendations for treatment and follow up. The service offered treatment under sedation to some people, primarily a minority of people having dental implants. The arrangements for planning, organising and carrying out the procedure ensured the safety of the person receiving treatment under such circumstances.
The service had arrangements in place to protect people from abuse. Those included policy guidance, information, and staff training.
Procedures for protecting people from the risk of infection were in order. Those included a member of staff with lead responsibility for monitoring infection control procedures, the organisation of work in key areas, and periodic audit of the arrangements.
The service's arrangements for the induction of new staff and for staff training and continuing professional development aimed to ensure staff had the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of people using the service.
