During a routine inspection
People were asked about their medical history prior to treatment and a treatment plan was completed. We observed positive interactions between staff and the people using the service. One person said, "I've been coming here over 20 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else", whilst someone else said, "I do a 50 mile round trip to come here, he [the dentist] always looks after me."
The service had effective systems in place to prevent and control the spread of infection. There were systems in place to decontaminate and sterilise equipment and infection control audits were taking place. We saw cleaning schedules covering all areas of the service and people told us the service was always clean when they attended appointments.
There were sufficient staff to meet the needs of the service and arrangements were in place to cover staff shortages.
There was an effective complaints system in place and people told us they felt able to raise any concerns they had with staff.
