During our inspection we spoke to a total of five staff: one dentist, one hygienist, a dental nurse and two receptionists. We took evidence from other sources to help us understand the needs and views of the patients who used the service, including a patient satisfaction survey, minutes of staff meetings and our review of the surgery's complaints log. We also spoke to five patients on the day of inspection. The patients we spoke with told us that they were very happy with the dental treatment at this practice. One patient told us 'I like it here, they have been helpful and brilliant'. The receptionist told us, 'We have a very modern practice and we are very up to date'. The dentist told us, 'We are very flexible, and the staff are excellent'. Staff told us they felt supported and enjoyed working at the practice. A patient told us 'The staff come across as very well trained and confident'.
All the staff we interviewed knew their roles in protecting vulnerable adults and children.
The practice had systems in place to assess and continually review the service that it provided and was making improvements where needed.
However, we found the practice was not following infection control policies and staff were unable to demonstrate a good understanding of infection control procedures.
