During a routine inspection

During our visit to Carpenters' Arms Dental practice on 14 November 2012 we did not speak to anyone as we arrived after the last patient for the morning had commenced their treatment. However we were able to look at a variety of comments made by people as part of the practice's quality surveys. The comments were all very positive and included, 'I am made to feel comfortable' and 'It is relaxed, it is such a lovely environment'. Another person had written that they found it useful that the staff wore name badges so that they knew who they were being treated by or speaking with. The provider told us that name badges had been introduced at the suggestion of the people using the service.

The records we looked at confirmed that treatment options were discussed with people using the service to ensure that they had the opportunity to make decisions and be involved in their treatment plans.

The practice had sufficient processes in place to ensure that treatment was delivered safely and that they would be able to deal with routine and emergency treatments. All areas of the centre were clean and tidy and there were robust infection control processes in place to ensure people were treated safely.

There was appropriate information for people to know how to make a complaint should they need to do so.
