During a routine inspection
People told us the dentist always explained the treatment options and costs and they chose which treatments they wanted. One person said, 'He explains and gives you alternatives. It is always open to discussion."
We saw that the provider had taken measures to minimise risks to people's health because they followed the Department of Health guidance to prevent infection. People we spoke with said that staff always wore aprons, gloves and masks in the surgery. The provider checked that dental treatments would not compromise people's allergies or medical conditions.
Staff received an induction programme and the provider checked they were suitable to work with vulnerable people when they started working at the surgery. Staff had regular training throughout their employment, so they could maintain their professional registration. Staff we spoke with told us they enjoyed their work. One member of staff said, 'I really look forward to coming to work.'
The provider made regular checks on the quality of the service and took action to improve the service they offered. The quality of the service had been recognised and accredited by an external, professional body.
