During a routine inspection
22 May 2012. We looked at essential standards covering respecting and involving people, care and welfare, safeguarding people from abuse, and cleanliness and infection control.
We looked at the records of three patients in detail; and spoke to them about their experiences at the practice. We met four patients who were attending appointments, spoke to a further three people and received feedback in emails from another three patients.
Patients made very positive comments about their experience of treatment at the dental practice:
Patients told us that the dental practice had always detailed their treatments, discussed what's required and provided a financial breakdown as for them to make an informed choice about the treatment available to them.
With regard to health and welfare, patients commented 'I'm always asked if there are any problems and told to come straight back if things don't feel right or I'm in discomfort, which is reassuring'.
Patients felt safe and made comments like 'I'm always in good hands, Lisa sets high standards and her staff follow these standards'. The staff were described as being 'kind, gentle' and 'very friendly'.
In terms of cleanliness people told us that the environment is 'spotlessly clean, even the toilet and toys children can play with' and 'they always open new instruments from sealed packets'.
There are two areas where we highlighted improvements that the provider should consider and these have since been addressed by Dr Ace. These relate to infection control practices, which could be easily resolved.
