During a routine inspection
The practice had a policy and procedure in place to ensure that consent was obtained appropriately. This included discussing treatment options with people so that they could make an informed decision and asking them to sign a consent form. Appropriate arrangements were in place to obtain consent for children. People had invididual care plans which reflected their needs. Staff had received basic life support training and there were systems in place to deal with foreseeable medical emergencies.
There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Reusable instruments were decontaminated in line with published guidance. On the day of our visit the practice was clean and well maintained.
There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. All clinical staff were registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). Staff had access to appropriate professional development. One the day of the visit there were enough staff to meet the needs of people.
Records were kept securely and could be located promptly when needed. All records were stored electronically. Peoples records we looked at were accurate.
