During a routine inspection
'I have been using the dentist for 25 years. I am very happy with the treatment I receive. There have been no problems and they are very thorough.'
'Every treatment is discussed and agreed with me. The dentist is very clear and has a good communication style. I am very happy with the treatment I receive, that's why I have used the dentist so long.'
The facilities and resources offered at this practice include two surgery rooms, two full time dentist, and five dental nurses. The reception entrance and both surgery rooms are upstairs. This makes the practice inaccessible to people with mobility restrictions. We were told that people with restricted mobility are referred to a nearby health centre for dental treatment.
During our visit we looked around the premises. We spoke to one of the dentists, three dental nurses and looked at the records of three people who use the service.
Evidence that we gathered during this review confirmed that people are assessed to decide what dental and oral healthcare needs they may have. Treatments that people may need are discussed with them and are carried out in a satisfactory way.
We found that people receive treatment in an environment which was generally clean. Improvement to the system for managing the risk of cross infections would benefit people who use the service.
