During a routine inspection
We looked at a sample of four patient records and saw it was documented that patients were involved in planning of their care and treatment. We saw regular audits of clinical notes had also taken place to ensure this was a consistent process.
We examined continuous professional development (CPD) for all staff who worked at the practice. We found they were all up-to-date in their training in relation to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and child protection.
A dental nurse showed us how dental instruments were cleaned and we saw that the correct procedures were followed.
We found that all staff received appraisals on an annual basis. Staff also had the opportunity to have a supervision session with the manager on a regular basis. This meant that the practice had processes in place to promote and continue the professional development of its employees.
