During a routine inspection
'I was in a terrible state when I went to her, she was marvellous. I have found a dentist that I can put my trust in.'
'She discussed the treatment with me and told me about the cost, I told her what I wanted. She explained everything.'
The facilities and resources offered at this practice include two surgery rooms, a practice manager, one dentist, part time dental hygienists, and one dental nurse. The reception entrance and both surgery rooms are on the ground floor which makes the practice accessible to people with mobility restrictions.
During our visit we looked around the premises. We spoke to the dentist, the registered manager, the dental nurse and looked at records for three people who had visited the surgery recently.
Evidence that we gathered during this review confirmed that people are thoroughly assessed to decide what dental and oral healthcare needs they may have. Treatments that people may need are discussed with them and are carried out in a satisfactory way.
We found that people receive treatment in an environment which was generally clean and managed so as to reduce the risk of infection. We found that some improvement was needed to the systems for cleaning used instruments, which will further reduce the risks of cross infections.
