During a routine inspection
We saw that the registered manger was the 'child and vulnerable adult safeguarding lead.' We saw that safeguarding training had taken place as part of their continuing professional development (CPD) in May 2012.We saw that staff working at the practice had guidance and information on the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.
We saw that the practice had a dedicated decontamination room for the decontamination and sterilisation of dental instruments. We saw evidence of a cross infection control policy and log book that was signed by staff after reading the policy. We saw posters on the wall describing first aid, basic life support along with the health and safety policy, fire policy and resuscitation procedure.
We were told by one staff member that they 'felt supported to carry out their role' and that there was 'good leadership from all the dentists' within the practice. Clinical staff told us that they had opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) and were allowed time to undertake this during their working week.
