During an inspection in response to concerns
People told us that staff encouraged them to make decisions for themselves, such as what they liked to eat, what time they got up and went to bed and what they did during the day. One person told us, "I enjoy my meals here. The cook is good and will make you something special if you ask."
We found that one person was not being given the opportunity to open their own post, because staff were concerned that they might forget to tell them about hospital appointments. The manager agreed to update the person's care plan to inform staff that the person should open their own post with staff support.
Six people told us that their health and personal care needs were being met. One person said, "If I'm not feeling well staff ask the doctor to come and see me. They also let my relatives know if I am not well."
Five people said they liked the meals provided in the home and that portion sizes were suitable for their needs. One person commented, "You can ask for more if you like."
Five people said that they liked the staff and felt safe living in the home. When asked what they would do if they had any concerns, one person told us, "I'd go to the head one. I'm confident that she would deal with it."
One person told us they were, "Fed up." They said they would like to go out more. When we told the manager about this she made arrangements for this to happen.
