During a routine inspection
People undergoing treatment told us, they found the staff to be friendly and reported that they were treated with respect and their privacy was maintained at all times. People commented, , 'I have been a patient of Mr Lane's for thirty years. There are no first name terms between us. Each time I visit they explain the procedure to me as though it's the first time. All the staff are respectful of my privacy. Doors and blinds are closed and there's always two of them'.
We were also told the staff were 'very nice and accommodating', 'pleasant people', and 'professional'. One person said, 'Mr Lane always asks me how I am. It's not out of courtesy he's checking I'm alright to have treatment'. Another person said, 'There's an onus on me as well to tell the dentist about my health. The staff ask me as well. I've never had a problem. They know I'm a bit nervous and help me to relax'.
We found suitable arrangements were in place to protect people from abuse and the risk of abuse. Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.
We also found an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety of people using the service and others.
