Our view of the service
The Beeches Retirement Hotel is a residential care home providing accommodation, support and personal care to up to 20 people. There were 19 people living at the home at the time of our in-site assessment on 15 October 2024. Our assessment was focussed looking at our safe and well-led key questions. There had been a recent change of provider for the service and a new registered manager had been in post for 4 months at the time of our assessment. The registered manager had created a service improvement plan as there were several areas that required review, development and embedding at the service. These included capturing lessons learned from accidents and incidents, auditing processes, capturing feedback and supporting staff with training, supervision and team meetings. During our assessment we spoke with 7 people, 4 relatives, 2 professionals and 9 staff. Staff included the registered manager, deputy manager, maintenance and kitchen staff and care staff. We looked at 5 care plans and documents relating to auditing, accidents and incidents and quality assurance. We looked at 4 staff files.
People's experience of this service
People and their loved ones told us they felt safe living at the service. Most felt the staff were supportive and attentive to their needs but some relatives told us they thought training could be improved. People said the service was clean and that they had daily choices of food. People were aware of the changes in manager but were supportive of the new registered manager and deputy.
