During a routine inspection
People told us that they felt safe in the surgery and were confident that they could raise any concerns with the staff. They told us that they were always given detailed explanations of their treatment plans and that they were able to discuss the plans with the dentist. We saw treatment plans and records which were signed by people using the service. This showed that people expressed their views and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment.
We saw staff treating people politely and with respect. One person told us that staff "'are always accommodating.' The practice provided information about its services, fees, appointments system and staff in an information leaflet.
A clear safeguarding policy was in place and all staff had received safeguarding training and enhanced criminal records bureau (CRB) checks. People were always chaperoned during treatments. The practice had an effective recruitment and selection policy in place. Appropriate records were kept securely and were readily accessible when needed.
The practice had two treatment rooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Each treatment room had its own waiting area. The treatment room and waiting area on the ground floor were accessible to people who used wheelchairs.
