We requested information from the provider asking them to demonstrate that staff working in the practice were recruited appropriately. The provider sent us evidence of the checks they carried out prior to someone starting at their service. The evidence demonstrated that staff were recruited to the service effectively.

During a routine inspection

Mulgrave Dental Centre provides private dental treatment for adults and children. It is registered as a partnership of two dentists. Both dentists work part time at this practice. On the day that we undertook our inspection we were able to speak with one of the dentists, the nurse and two people who had attended for treatment.

The people who used this service were very positive about the staff and the treatment they received. They told us that they were given information about any treatment that they would need and this included how much it was going to cost them. They told us 'it's very friendly here', 'the dentists are very good, very kind', and 'I've been coming here for a long time, I'm very impressed, wouldn't go anywhere else'

We saw that policies and procedures were in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of people using the service. There were regular checks being made of the equipment and medication that might be needed in the event of an emergency.

We raised one minor concern about recruitment procedures that were in place and the provider told us that they would address this quickly.
