People told us that they were happy with the service provided and that their dignity was maintained and their privacy protected. They said that they were encouraged to ask questions and they felt that staff had the time to answer them. People reported that staff were good at discussing all their treatment options with them. One person told us, 'I've always found staff very helpful and during more recent visits they have explained the treatment options available, they've got a lot better at this' another person told us 'The staff are very good, they always explain the costs involved and it always looks very clean'. Although people were satisfied with the care they received and we found staff to be helpful, we identified some concerns.
There were minimal staff training records available and some training was out of date or had not been arranged.
We also identified areas for improvement with regards to infection control processes and practice; decontamination processes were not being followed in accordance with government guidelines. The service did not undertake audits, including audits recommended by the department of health.
