During a routine inspection
We also took information from other sources to help us understand the views of people who used the service, which included a patient satisfaction survey and staff meeting minutes.
The patients we spoke with told us they thought they received good dental treatment from the dentists. One patient told us, 'I wouldn't want to change dentists. I never have a problem with the surgery or getting appointments. They also have a hygienist here and she is top class.' Another patient told us, 'I have used this service for over 30 years. I think from the time you arrive until the time you leave, the service is professional and friendly.'
Staff knew their role in protecting vulnerable adults and children from abuse. A member of staff that we spoke with told us, "I can identify and would report any concerns to social services. The telephone number is in the decontamination room.'
The practice was following appropriate guidance in relation to infection control and the staff were well trained and supported. One of the dentists we spoke with told us, 'Our level of infection control is extremely high. Our staff know what should be done and do it well.'
The practice had systems in place to assess and continually review the service that it provides and was making improvements where needed.
