During a routine inspection
Patients told us staff treated them with respect. We saw staff were polite and welcoming to patients attending the practice. One patient we spoke with said, 'The receptionist is always as discreet as possible'.
Patients told us they were satisfied with the care and treatment they received. One patient said 'I speak for the whole family when I say we are totally happy with the service'. Another patient told us they were 'a very nervous patient', but said the dentist was 'fully aware of my needs and how to make me comfortable and reduce my anxiety'. The practice was, therefore, meeting patients' needs.
The practice was clean and hygienic. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Instruments were sterilised in a purpose built room. Staff confirmed they had received training in infection control and demonstrated a sound understating of infection control principles.
The practice conducted audits to examine certain aspects of the service. These included infection control, records and radiographs. Minutes of staff meetings showed audit findings were discussed with staff and used to improve standards.
