During a routine inspection

People experienced effective, safe, appropriate care and support that met their needs. This was confirmed by people we spoke to and by the records kept. One person we spoke with said, "I've been coming here years and I've always been happy with the care" and "I would recommend him to anyone." Another person told us, "Mark always tells me everything I need to know about the treatment options' and another 'He's brilliant'. Two managers of care homes visited by the dentist said they were told about the treatment options and that they were given enough time to decide how they wanted to proceed. The dentists and staff confirmed that this was an important part of the treatment plan. The records confirmed this.

The surgery was clean, pleasantly decorated and tidy. The staff understood how to minimise the risk of cross infection and were given the facilities and equipment to support them to do this. We found that people were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance was followed.

The dental nurse was well supported and given a wide range of training opportunities. She told us she knew how to carry out her role and continued to maintain her skills and competencies to make sure she remained safe to practice.

There were a number of ways the Dental Surgery checked and reviewed the service they provided we saw that they were continually looking for ways of improving the service.
