During a routine inspection
We saw patients were given clear explanation about their course of treatment and the possible side effects. They were also given sufficient time to make a decision and asked questions about the treatment options available. We observed patients were asked if they were taking any medication and if this had changed since a previous appointment. This ensured staff were aware of the changes and any associated risks. All treatment was carried out in private and in a calm and respectful way.
There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. The practice was clean and hygienic when we visited. Staff followed their procedures for infection control. We observed staff adhered to hand washing and the use of sterilising gel as appropriate in between patients.
There were systems to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service the patients received including regular surveys. There were regular audits, covering certain aspects of the service which were used to improve the quality of service provided.
