During a routine inspection
People were treated in a clean and hygienic environment and the procedures in place for the decontamination of surgical instruments met with current guidance.
Staff received training to support them in their roles and this included training in safeguarding and first aid. Staff were therefore aware of their responsibility to safeguard people using the service and how to act on concerns if they had them. Staff were also aware of the Mental Capacity Act and how to ensure that decisions were made in people's best interests, where they may not be able to make a decision independently about their treatment.
We viewed a selection of patient records and these demonstrated people were made aware of any possible complications arising from the treatment they were undertaking. This meant that people were able to make fully informed decisions.
