When we visited Cherry Tree Dental on 29 October 2012 people told us they were treated politely and the dentist involved them in their treatment plan. We spoke with five people, including two families as our visit was during the half-term school holiday. People told us they had been fully involved in planning their treatment. One person said, 'The dentist has gone out of their way to help me'. We saw that young children were relaxed and were offered the opportunity to do some colouring while they were waiting to see the dentist or therapist. Limited information was available to people using the service that explained what they could expect as a patient of Cherry Trees Dental and there was nothing displayed that told people how they could comment about the service or make a complaint if they needed to.
People told us that they liked the dentist and felt confident in the treatment they received. We were told that all care was provided in private and that peoples' records were correctly stored to ensure their privacy.
We noted that all areas of the premises, clinical and non clinical were clean and tidy, however some redecoration was needed. In two of the three surgeries, where treatments were routinely being carried out there was some carpet on the floor which had the potential to harbour infection.
