Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must carry out specific audits of the service. These audits must include reviewing staff positive response and physical intervention training, ABC charts, risk assessments for people who engage in behaviours that place people and staff at risk of harm and/or abuse, and incidents and accidents. The registered provider must send confirmation these audits have taken place to the Care Quality Commission by 5pm on 28 October 2022. By 5pm on the 28th of each month thereafter, the registered provider must send the action plan arising from these audits to the Commission.
The registered provider must review and revise their assessment process at Viera Gray House, to ensure that only service users are admitted to the service whose needs can be met by staff in line with their skills and experience.
The registered provider must thoroughly complete Antecedent Behaviour Consequence (ABC) charts for all service users, in accordance with the recommendation of healthcare professionals. This must be used to monitor service users’ behaviours over time so that risk management plans can be updated.
The registered provider must complete risk assessments for all service users who engage in behaviours that place people and staff at risk of harm and/or abuse. These risk assessments must include but are not limited to; steps staff must take when faced with physical aggression and what physical interventions are authorised to be used. The risk assessments must be completed and reviewed by a competent person and a system put in place to ensure all risk assessments are reviewed following any incident relating to the purpose of the risk assessment. Risk assessments must also be reviewed following physical intervention training for staff to ensure guidance from this training is incorporated into the risk assessment.
The registered provider must not admit any new service users or any re-admissions of previous service users to the location at Viera Gray House, 27 Ferry Road, London SW13 9PP without the prior written consent of the Care Quality Commission.
The registered provider must ensure staff training needs are continually assessed and facilitate training for all staff to ensure they have the skills and competence required to respond to service users' assessed and identified risks. This is to include physical intervention response training where this is identified as a risk. The registered provider must send details of all behavioural response training that has been completed by staff to the Care Quality Commission by 5pm on 18 November 2022 and by 5pm on the 28th of each month thereafter.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The Registered Provider must not provide nursing care under Accommodation for persons who require personal or nursing care at Viera Gray House.
The Registered Provider must only accommodate a maximum of 41 service users at Viera Gray House.
