People were cared for by staff who were kind and respectful. Staff promoted people's independence and choice in a personalised way. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.

Independence, choice and control

People were able to carry on with their usual routines and staff respected these. One person said, "I do what I like. I don't really need much care as I am pretty independent. I come and go as I please.”

Staff promoted people's independence and choice. One member of staff said, "Everyone gets choices about what they do every day." Another staff told us, "People can do what they want, they have freedom." Care provided in the home was very personalised. Staff promoted person centred care to make sure everyone received a level of care to meet their needs and respected their wishes and independence.

People's choices and preferences were included in their care plans. These were regularly reviewed and updated as people's needs changed.
