Good

Updated 25 September 2024

We carried out our on-site assessment on 7 and 8 October 2024, off site assessment activity started on 26 September 2024 and ended on 17 October 2024. Shannon Court provides accommodation for people who require personal care for up to 53 people. The service provides support to older people, including people who are living with dementia and who can present with anxious and distressed behaviours which may impact on others. The service is divided into 5 separate units over two floors. This refers to Davis, Alvernia, Langton, Heydon and Norfolk Units. At the time of our assessment there were 42 people using the service.

We assessed 22 quality statements across the domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led and have combined the scores for these areas with scores from our last inspection.

People's experience of the service

Updated 25 September 2024

People were generally positive about the quality of the care and support provided. However, we received mixed feedback about staffing levels on occasions, and the impact this had on the support provided, particularly during the lunchtime meal. Not all people were routinely provided with options and choices.

People were supported to access a range of healthcare services and support as needed. Relatives told us they were kept up to date about their family members needs and the outcome of health-related appointments. People told us staff treated them well and relatives confirmed they were generally happy with the support their family member received. People were supported by staff to maintain some aspects of their independence. People told us they felt able and comfortable to raise concerns.

Relatives were complimentary regarding the management of the service, indicating the service was well managed and led.
