Our view of the service

This assessment was undertaken remotely and started on 12 March 2024 and ended on 11 April 2024. At the time of this assessment 17 people were being supported with personal care at the service. Love Life Care is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care for people living in their own homes in the community. The service provides care to older people, those living with dementia, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. The last rating for this service was Good (published 15 August 2017). We looked at 5 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control, and Equity in experiences and outcomes. People and their relatives were very happy with the service provided and described the staff as kind and caring, and felt they were competent in their roles. Everyone we spoke with was happy with their care and complimentary about the staff supporting them, which illustrated a positive culture that promoted positive experiences for people. Relatives described how staff had a positive impact on their loved ones. People and relatives knew who the management team were as they also carried out visits to people's homes. Communication with people and their relatives was described as good, and we saw regular contact and communication between people, staff and the management team. However, we did find some areas which required improvement such as staff training and processes associated with assessing risk. The management team were responsive to our feedback, and took immediate steps to address the required improvements during the inspection. Following the inspection they provided a detailed action plan. The required improvements had no impact on the care people were receiving.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives were very positive about the support they received from this service. The registered manager told us that they try to provide a person-centred service for people, and this was reflected in people's feedback. People told us that they felt safe with staff and were involved in their care. One person told us, "I've known the manager for years and she is wonderful, the care is personal. Care staff are friendly, never any problems with them. They are fantastic and I couldn’t wish for more." Another said, "They [care staff] are all very good and work at my pace, I don’t feel rushed. They are kind and caring and generally follow the care plan, they ask me what I want and follow how I like things done." Relatives we spoke with also praised service for the good communication they had with them. One relative told us, "We see the notes of the care and if we have any queries, we can have an online Teams call with them. We feel that they keep us completely in the loop. When [relatives] needs have changed they have helped us and advocated for my [relative] for example in speaking with the occupational therapist and helping us to sort out [equipment]."
