Our view of the service
Assessment activity started on 2 October and ended on 31 October 2024. The assessment included a site visit to the home on 2 October, 10 October, and 25 October 2024. Summerfield House Nursing Home is registered to provide nursing and personal care for up to 107 people. At the time of inspection, the service was supporting 66 people. We conducted this assessment to follow up on concerns we identified at the last inspection. These included 6 breaches of Regulations. The last rating for this service was Inadequate (published 6 April 2024). At this assessment we found significant improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations. Provider had maintained voluntary embargo since last inspection. The manager in post was in the process of registering with the CQC as the manager for this care home. We found people were supported by staff who knew them well and who had received all appropriate training. Staffing levels were safe, and the provider had a safe recruitment process. Staff morale in the service had improved. The provider had a robust pre-assessment process, and the service was working well with other professionals to improve services for people. People’s privacy, dignity, choice, and independence was promoted. Medicines were safely managed, quality assurance systems had improved and were effective, and the provider had a robust process which identified lessons learnt.
